Missions and Outreach at Saint Andrew's
The purpose of the Outreach Missions at Saint Andrew’s United Methodist Church is to reach out in the name of Christ to those in need, locally, nationally, and internationally. Our congregation is very involved in missions! Listed below are our most significant missions:
One of our passions at Saint Andrew's is feeding people - spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Our Food Pantry feeds the hungry bellies supported by generous and grateful hearts infused with God's love. In this time, many are finding themselves in need like never before, and they are reaching out for help. We answer the call by opening the Food Pantry Drive-Thru every third Saturday of the month, 8AM-10AM. Foods are safely packed and delivered through no contact.
Food Pantry
Established in 1998, our food pantry mission provides food to those in need on a monthly basis. Thanks to contributions from church members and also significant food drives carried out by Saint Andrew's United Methodist Day School, we currently assist 25-30 families in the area. We also have special collection drives to provide full meals to these families during the holidays.
Volunteers In Mission (VIM)
Each year, we organize a group of youth and adult volunteers to serve on a one-week mission project. Past trips have included Syracuse, NY, New Orleans, Boone, NC, and Alaska.
About VIM from the United Methodist Church:
United Methodist Volunteers In Mission (UMVIM) is a grassroots movement within The United Methodist Church designed to provide an official channel whereby Christians, both lay and clergy, may offer their skills and talents for Christian service at home and around the world on short term assignments at their own expense.
Their work includes construction and renewing of mission facilities, teaching, witnessing, conducting medical clinics, conducting Bible study or Bible School for children, and serving in disaster relief efforts around the world.
