About Saint Andrew's
Saint Andrew’s United Methodist Church has a rich history that began in 1895 with the formation of Edward’s Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church. For many years the congregation worshiped on Riva Road, a suburb of Annapolis.
With the continued growth of the surrounding area, the congregation decided to move to a new location and broke ground on a new facility in 1985 in Edgewater, Maryland, renaming itself Saint Andrew’s United Methodist Church. The congregation consecrated a new sanctuary in 1995, and through the years, added a new pre-school wing, constructed a new elementary school building, and finalized its campus with the addition of a new middle school building.
The congregation is a diverse community that includes long time residents of Annapolis and the surrounding communities, and recent new comers from many parts of the world. There is a wonderful mix of ages, occupations, interests and gifts. We boast of having children worship along side an older generation. New, young families continually unite with our congregation. Our theological strength is a diversity bound in love. We keep true to the historic faith of Christianity while remaining always open to a diversity of points of view within that tradition. We put love above all else. We believe the church exists to give itself away in love and service to the world and thus we emphasize a ministry of out reach and love to others. We believe in celebration the Lord’s Supper, Holy Communion, at every worship service.
We are located south of Annapolis on Route 2, south of the Annapolis Harbour Center (shopping complex) but before the South River Bridge leading into Edgewater. Our church and school sit next to the housing development called "Gingerville."
We are a congregation committed to open doors, open hearts and open minds.
